You can enjoy boating at the Hudson Springs Park which also includes a walking trail and several docks. In addition, you can visit the Barlow Farm Park, Wildlife Woods, Cascade Park, Bicentennial Woods and Colony Park. You can plan a day trip to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Hudson boasts of a number of theaters such as Porthouse Theatre, Hudson Players, Carousel Dinner Theatre and Coach House Theatre. The Akron Art Museum is also nearby. Hudson was founded by David Hudson in 1799 and was named after him. It was incorporated in 1837. In the early twentieth century, James Ellsworth helped to modernize Hudson and his son, Lincoln Ellsworth, was the only Hudsonite who figured on a U.S. postage stamp. The city was also the childhood home of the American abolitionist, John Brown. Hudson was the first U.S. community that launched a citywide electronic gift card in November 2002.
